History of Tagetes
Sometimes called the Southern marigold, Tagetes minuta’s brightly colored flowers bring the warmth of the sun to life. Gardeners often use this as a decorative boundary plant where it is traditionally believed to protect the home from evil. It is used as a condiment for popular rice dishes in Chile and Argentina and is so highly prized that people collect enough to last them throughout the winter months. The Mayans and Aztecs used it traditionally for head discomfort and to ease unsettled nerves.
